Still Life with Garlic, Tomato, and Redware Pitcher

Sometimes I am at a loss for words on how to introduce a painting, and this is one... I have been pondering how to best share how it came into being, however all I can say is that September was a wonderful and inspiring month. My tomatoes continued to produce and then in the middle of the month S., Naomi and I spent the day at Mount Vernon's Fall Market Day with some good friends. While there I came across a pottery booth of traditional American Redware and fell in love with this pitcher. Inspired by the beautiful luster of the glaze I brought the pitcher home and this painting resulted.

Sometimes the creative process is all about flow and expression.
