Make Art Everyday 2019 :: June Highlights

June was a month of many things happening in sequence. School let out, Naomi is now going on into 2nd grade. Travel to Washington State to visit with my family (Naomi loved playing with all of her cousins, and there are a lot!) and then returning home to begin the typical summer activities. Oh, and I also began to dive into the studio to take advantage of all the flowers blooming in the garden.

Day 157: A sketch from tennis practice. If I am the one taking Naomi to tennis practice, I like the use the time to sketch “action” poses.

Day 179: A detail of my first floral still-life after returning from the trip to Washington. It felt so good to get back into a regular studio routine. Where I had scheduled time to focus on my work. (Available)

Even with the lack of a regular routine, it was still possible to carve out creative time. I think that is one of the biggest things about being an artist with a wonderful daughter, I want to celebrate these times when she is young and available as much as I want to be creating art, and the best way to live my best life, is to seize what opportunities come up.
