Georgetown Cornices

The other day I was walking around Georgetown and the sun was low on the horison and really bright. With the way the sun was shining I really noticed the decorative cornices that are all over. Here are some of my favorites I took photos of.

I like how each building has its own style and does not try to "fit in" and match the neighboring building, though two of the buildings have similar color schemes, the scale and level of ornamentation are distinct to each building.

This building corner is tighter than 90 degrees, and the main street is has a defined return and then turns and covers the side street facade.

This one is really interesting, as the decorative cornice is made of metal, so some of the pieces have fallen and pigeons tend to roost on them individually.

I like the use of terracotta with the brick wall.
