Cosmos...

There are spots of purple and fuchsia
that contrast with the warm yellows and browns
pervading our garden

Seeing these color points in the garden
I feel blessed for the remnants of summer
and enjoy the crisping of the air.

These are the deep saturated blooms of cosmos.
I love their delicate petals,
wiry stems and fern-like leaves.
