Persimmons, 12 x 24 inches

Persimmons on a Wood Crate

Painting from life in natural light requires me to be aware of the seasons and the weather. So I look forward to each new season with anticipation.

Persimmons are one of my favorite autumn fruits because of their bright color and shape. These came from a neighbor's tree, and she told me that her mother brought back a persimmon seed from Japan some 30+ years ago and planted the seed when she got home. And lucky me, the tree produces a lot of persimmons, so I get to harvest some of them for paintings.
