One of my creative practices I strive to maintain everyday is to draw.  This year I was inspired to start drawing hands by my artist friend, Julie Dyer Holmes.  She has been creating a hand drawing everyday for over a year!

It got me wanting to explore hands as well, so I began to draw my hand first.

Then in April I began to ask for photos from friends and family.

Each drawing takes 2-5 drawing sessions to complete, and has become such an important part of my day.  I have noticed how these careful drawings are informing my painting time, enhancing how I perceive and mentally explore subtle nuances.

As we are entering June, I am more than halfway to completing 100 hands.  I am still on the look out for more photos of hand, so send them to me if you want me to draw them.

I will post the drawings to my Instagram feed, saying I got the image from you.  I am offering to draw these hand portraits gratis until I reach 100.  After I complete 100 hand drawings, I will begin taking commissions.

So if you want to get in the queue, send me a photo soon!
