Apple Slices

This is the first painting of 2014. I stole away into my studio for half the day on New Year's Day... it was a great way to start the year :)

With this painting, I wanted to explore color and pattern, impressionistic and loose brushstrokes, and a bird’s eye view. My main goal for 2014 is to pursue ideas more, to push my boundaries and play with different techniques.

So it only seemed fitting that the first painting of the year would be a physical manifestation of my 2014 resolution.
