Scenic Sunday: Lake Roosevelt Washington State

08 2009 S.jpg

Hello ~

I took a break from this blog earlier this month and am now back. Last weekend I was in Washington State vacationing on Lake Roosevelt. This was the sunset of the first evening at the lake. The haze was from two large forest fire up in Canada, it was smoky but did really add some visual depth to the scenery.

Happy Scenic Sunday!

Yesterday was spent at Mount Vernon celebrating Independence Day with my love, S. This was our first 4th of July visit to Mount Vernon, and it was fantastic! Activities started at 8am and lasted into the afternoon.

The most notable event was the naturalization ceremony for 102 people from 42 different countries.

Have a wonderful day and congratulations to all the new citizens!

Hello -

I am slow to post today. The morning started out gray and wet and it seemed an archive photo would be necessary. Then the sun came out and I went on a long walk. Here are some scenic signs of spring encountered along the way.

In the past two days all the cherry blossoms have opened and are now in full bloom

Pines in Fort Ward Park, Alexandria, VA

Water fowl and electric green willows just starting to leaf.

This was taken Saturday morning around 7:30am. I met my friend Michele for a walk along to Potomac. We walked from gravely point on the Virginia side to the Jefferson Memorial (the white dome in the distance). I love all bridges that cross the Potomac.

I am hopeful that this weekend is the first of many "spring-like" days ahead. Spring is my favorite season, even though I suffer terribly from allergies these months. I just love seeing all the plants sprouting and turning back to green.
